GOP Oversight subcommittee meeting took place on September, 16 2025
Chairwoman: Ms. Greene
Article purpose: Highlight a need for transparency in weather modification practices both in the United States and throughout the world as part of water rights which is interconnected and problematic for Interstate and internationally.
This committee meeting was about cloud seeding, weather modification, our EPA exposing an honest assessment of what the United States' use of cloud seeding both for commercial and a history of military use of weather modification before a United Nations treaty in 1976. This article talks about this committee meeting and also relates the international use of weather modification and also highlights that the United Nations has banned the military use of weather modification and other hostile use of modifying the environment.
In the Chair's introduction she explained:
"Silver or lead iodide is used to try to increase rainfall in a specific location."

Block the rays of the sun from hitting the earth
Intercept a hurricane off the coast of Jacksonville, Florida.
US army admitted to spraying mysterious chemical fog over Saint Louis Missouri neighborhood in the 1950s and 1960s which residents now claim this is giving them cancer.
Series of efforts in the 60s and 70s seeding clouds with silver iodide to weaken hurricanes.
Create monsoons to aid our military during the Vietnam war.
Hedge Capitalists invest in companies like "Make sunsets" to inject aerosols into the atmosphere to reflect sunlight back into space.
The Clear Skies act was develope to regulate weather modification.

Only 2 states, Tennessee and Florida, currently ban weather modification. Currently, as of 6-10-2026, there are currently 18 states that have for-profit companies which operate unregulated.
Ranking member Ms. Stansbury agrees with most of the sentiment about weather modification and looks to regulate weather modification through the EPA.
UN created a 1976 convention prohibiting "military or any other hostile use of environmental modification techniques".

China:
In 2008, China used it to try to stop rain from falling on Beijing's Olympic stadium.
